GAMBLING TREATMENT SERVICES OF WILMINGTON

RICHARD O’DONNELL, LPC, NGCG II

With the proliferation of internet gambling, the televising of high stakes poker games, and the recent introduction of the State Lottery in North Carolina, experts in the field anticipate an increasing number of problem gamblers. Individuals, who, despite their best efforts, are unable to stop betting, and continue on that downward spiral toward personal, social and financial disaster. These struggles often co-exist with other psychiatric and/or substance abuse problems.

Mr. O’Donnell brings to our practice over 27 years of clinical experience. He is a Supervising Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio, licensed as a Professional Counselor in North Carolina, and has advanced certification as a Gambling Counselor. He spent several years working at an inpatient gambling treatment program, and has counseled many gamblers and those with dual addictions. Richard also has extensive experience in working with traumatic stress, and is quick to recognize its role in the addictive process. He has assisted many military veterans in resolving combat related stress syndromes.
